The Service for the Lord’s Day

WE GATHER

Welcoming Announcements

Call to worship

Our help is in the name of the Lord,

Maker of Heaven and Earth.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

And also with you.

Let us worship God.

Hymn, Psalm, or Spiritual Song

Opening Prayer

God of all glory,

on this first day you began creation,

bringing light out of darkness.

On this first day you began your new creation,

raising Jesus Christ from the darkness of death.

On this Lord’s Day grant that we,

the people you create by water and the Spirit,

may be joined with all your works

in praising you for your great glory.

through Jesus Christ,

in union with the Holy Spirit,

we praise you now and forever.

Amen.

Call to Confession

The grace of God overflows for us

Through Christ Jesus

Who came into the world to save sinners.

Trusting in God’s grace, let us confess our sin.

Silent Personal Confession

Merciful God,

we confess that we have sinned against you

in thought, word, and deed,

by what we have done,

and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you

with our whole heart and mind and strength.

We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.

In your mercy, forgive what we have been,

help us amend what we are,

and direct what we shall be,

that we may delight in your will

and walk in your ways,

to the glory of your holy name.

Assurance of Pardon

The mercy of the Lord

is from everlasting to everlasting,

I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ,

we are forgiven.

Amen.

Summary of the Law

Our Lord Jesus said:

You shall love the Lord your God

with all your heart,

and with all your soul,

and with all your mind.

This is the greatest and first commandment.

And a second is like it:

You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

On these two commandments

hang all the law and the prophets.

Passing the Peace

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

And also with you.

THE WORD

Prayer for Illumination

Lord, open our hearts and minds

By the power of your Holy Spirit,

That as the Scriptures are read

And your Word is proclaimed,

We may hear with joy

What you say to us today.

Amen.

Special Mission Offering for the month

Praise God all creatures here below;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Amen.

Dedication of the Offering

All that is in the heavens and on the earth

is yours, O Lord,

and of your own we give you.

Blessed are you, O God, maker of all things.

Through your goodness you have blessed us with these gifts:

our selves, our time, and our possessions.

Use us, and what we have gathered,

in feeding the world with your love;

through the one who gave himself for us,

Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.

Amen.

Invitation to the Lord’s Table

This is the joyful feast of the people of God!

People will come from north and south

and from east and west

to sit at table in the kingdom of God.

According to Luke,

when our risen Lord was at table with his disciples,

He took the bread, blessed and broke it,

and gave it to them.

Their eyes were then opened,

and they recognized him.

This is the Lord’s table.

Our Savior invites those who trust him

To share the feast that he has prepared.

(the Invitation will be repeated in Spanish)

Great Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Es digno y justo darle gracias y alabanzas … // It is right – and just – to give you thanks …

… uniendo nuestras voces en el himno eterno: // … joining our voices in the eternal hymn:

(all sing)

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.

¡Santo! ¡Santo! ¡Santo! Te adoro reverente,

Dios en tres personas, bendita Trinidad.

Prayer continues

Santo eres tú … // You are holy …

… al escuchar estas conocidas palabras. // … as we hear these familiar words.

We give you thanks that the Lord Jesus,

on the night before he died, took bread,

and after giving thanks to you, he broke it,

and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take, eat. This is my body, given for you.

Do this in remembrance of me.

In the same way Jesus took the cup, saying:

This cup is the new covenant, sealed in my blood,

shed for you for the forgiveness of sins.

Whenever you drink it,

do this in remembrance of me.

(the Words of Institution will be repeated in Spanish)

Recordando la gracia de Cristo… // Remembering the grace of Christ …

… esperamos el día de su venida. // … we await the day of his coming.

Memorial Acclamation

Christ has died,

Christ is risen,

Christ will come again.

Prayer continues

Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us

and upon these your gifts of bread and cup,

that the bread we break and the cup we bless

may be the communion of the body and blood of Christ.

Celebramos todos estos dones… // We celebrate all these gifts …

… al servicio de todo el mundo. // … in service to the whole world.

Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

all glory and honor are yours,

almighty God, now and forever.

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done, on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial

and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and forever. Amen.

Breaking of the Bread

Jesus said: I am the bread of life.

Quien a mí viene nunca tendrá hambre.   (Come to me and never be hungry.)

Jesus said: I am the vine, you are the branches.

y quien en mí cree no tendrá sed jamás.   (Believe in me and never thirst.)

The gifts of God for the people of God.

Thanks be to God.
